Mid - Term presentation

Slides from the mid-term presentation:

Feedback from the class and important questions to answer:

After our mid-term presentation we had important question raised by the audience.
- A franchise, as a mode of entry, is appropriate when establishing Taco Bell in the German market? Is it not too risky? (not enough knowledge/ skills)
- How to educate german consumers to mexican food/ culture?
- How much should we be global? Should we specialize our offer to the German market?

We are going to compare how Taco Bell has been launch in a european country such as UK in order to get an idea and develop the appropriate mode of entry and strategy for the German market.

  1. Hey guys!
Once again, I realy liked your presentation and your idea in general. I used to spend a year in the States, and Taco Bell, along with numerous other mexican food chains (sometimes, really local) was pretty popular among the population, even though I leaved in a northern state of Montana. Actually, I totally forgot about such a thing ever since, and you reminded me of that :)
I will be looking forward to getting new info from you, but for now I have one concern and one question.
The concern is about a serious German market competetor - the Doner Kebab. I also spent a semester studying in EBS, and in Wiesbaden and smaller towns these Kebab Houses were everywhere, often run by just a couple of people, Turkish immigrants, positioned like just a small business. I have concerns that these Kebab houses would be even a more serious competetor than traditional fast-food chains such as KFC, McDonald's or Subway, because both of them - Kebab and Tako provide something different from traditional burgers and sandwiches, while still remaining a fast-food. What do you think? Would you include Doner Kebabs in analysis?
And a question is really important for me. Now that you have spent some time in Russia and taken a look at our fast-food market, do you think that Tako Bell has chances to be opened in Russia as well, under franchising? Would the situation be similar to the one in Germany, or totally not?
    Good luck, guys,
    Alex Serov

  2. Hi everyone!

I totally agree with Alex’s comment about main competitor. There is really close and strong competitor for Taco Bell in Germany, unlike in other European countries. So as Doner Kebab offers very similar dishes as Taco Bell does, what exact steps would you offer to differentiate Taco Bell from Doner Kebab?

And for Alex: Couple of Taco Bell restaurants were opened in Moscow several years ago and then they left=(
